'Cross-Faculty Seed Funding Pitch' Event
The Graeme Clark Institute was delighted to once again take part in Melbourne Connect Innovation Week, hosting the 2025 Cross-Faculty Seed Funding Pitch event on Tuesday 2nd September!
Organised and hosted by our Early and Mid-Career Researcher (EMCR) Committee, the event showcased the next generation of biomedical innovation, bringing together outstanding researchers to pitch their collaborative biomedical engineering and medtech projects. Each team delivered concise and compelling presentations, showcasing creativity, cross-disciplinary collaboration and a strong commitment to advancing healthcare solutions.
This event featured the following shortlisted project pitches from Round 1 of the Graeme Clark Institute 2025 Cross-Faculty Seed Funding Scheme:
- Project Title: Rescuing the Failing Placenta: Nanomedicine to Prevent Stillbirth and Rescue Fetal Growth
- Project Title: Restoring Gait Control in Hemiparetic Patients via Synergy-based Spinal Electrical Stimulation
- Project Title: Tailored Degradation, Targeted Growth: A Novel Approach to Bone Implant Fatigue Protection
- Project Title: Imaging Tissue Reperfusion after Thrombectomy
- Project Title: From Code to Cure: Artificial Intelligence in Biocatalytic Hydrogel Development
- Project Title: Chromatin in Focus: Bridging Super-Resolution Imaging with Sequencing for Real-Time Genome Insights
- Project Title: Assessing real-world mobility and environmental triggers in Parkinson’s disease using a portable home-based system
- Project Title: Miniaturized Low-Cost Optical Platform Stimulation and Recording in Cultured Neural Networks
An additional congratulations goes out to Pitches # 1, #3 and #7, that were announced as the winning projects, based on collated voting from both our judging panel and audience.
These projects will be receiving seed funding to further advance their innovative research and turn their brilliant ideas into real-world healthcare solutions!
