Research Support Initiatives

The Graeme Clark Institute for Biomedical Engineering was created to coordinate biomedical engineering activities across the University of Melbourne. The Institute brings together expertise and capabilities from medicine, engineering, and science, including the life sciences, computer sciences, mathematics and the social sciences.

The Institute Research Support Initiatives aim to provide financial support to researchers in the biomedical engineering field with the goal to enhance interdisciplinary research, foster collaboration, celebrate excellence and support diversity and inclusion.

  • A research support initiative with the aim to enhance interdisciplinary research in the biomedical engineering field. Top-up scholarships are intended to supplement a Research Training Program scholarship or other university awards.

  • The Graeme Clark Institute's Travel Support Scheme is a research support initiative with the aim to provide Graduate Researchers and Early-Career Researchers, within the Graeme Clark Institute membership, with financial support to attend national and international conferences or visit another institution as part of their research projects. The scheme aspires to create opportunities for researchers to build their networks and experience and also foster interdisciplinary research collaboration with other institutes, departments and research groups outside of the University of Melbourne.

  • The Graeme Clark Institute's Cross-faculty Seed Funding Scheme is created in partnership with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS), and Faculty of Science (FOS) to provide financial support to early to mid- career researchers who are employed by the University of Melbourne. The funding is for small to medium sized projects within the biomedical engineering and medtech research fields.
